Coach Llew Soine

Llewellyn Soine is an accomplished multi-sport professional with over two decades of experience as a player, coach, and certified umpire in field hockey, rugby, and cricket. His sporting journey began in South Africa, where he overcame a severe neck injury to earn Premier League honors and representative selection at the regional and national U21/men levels.

He holds certifications in both coaching and officiating, credentials that have led to national and international assignments. Llewellyn has led multiple teams to undefeated seasons and has officiated across top-level tournaments, demonstrating deep technical knowledge, leadership, and integrity.

Since relocating to the United States in 2021, Llewellyn has continued to contribute to the development of field hockey as a coach and NCAA umpire, bringing a new perspective and passion for excellence in Field Hockey and officiating.

 

Coach Stan Leslie

Coach Stan is a retired financial sales executive. While waiting for his wife to retire from teaching in Poway Unified, he decided to substitute teach and fate brought him to Poway High where he often covered for the PE coaches. Finding there to be a need in the field hockey program, he offered to help.
Coach Stan played recreational field hockey in high school. Living close to Moorpark, the center of West Coast field hockey at the time, he also volunteered at the field hockey venue during the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.
Coach Stan's daughter played field hockey at Mt. Carmel High where he also was an assistant coach for three years.
